The Kensington Rune Stone and Holy Grail in America
This presentation will be the ongoing story of the continued research and resulting discoveries Scott has made since he last visited us on 2/11/2009, when he told us of his quest to uncover who carved the enigmatic Kensington Rune Stone (KRS) and why. Ever since Olof Öhman unearthed a 200-pound, curiously engraved stone from his fields in 1898, controversy has raged over the artifact's authenticity. The stone, dated by its engraver in 1362, soon proved how difficult the search for truth can be. It continues to raise eyebrowsover claims that its existence attests that northern European explorers predated Columbus in America.By way of innovative research methods, objective analysis and personal testimony, geologist Scott F.Wolter has spent years researching the stone's authenticity. He has unearthed clues that bring new lifeto the discussion over the rune stone, its authenticity, its ties to Minnesota, and who may have carved it.Scott will talk about his recent research on the rune stone, and additional sites/artifacts found in NorthAmerica which appears to be tied to the same group that carved the Kensington Rune Stone. He'll discuss the History Channel Program Holy Grail in America which featured his research. He'll also recap the important points of his previous lecture for those that were not in attendance. As a forensic scientist, he will discuss his approach to the research, including his scientific process for testing the KRS and other stone artifacts. Some topics will include:
• Fascinating geological evidence, previously overlooked but unmistakable
• The intriguing role the Cistercian Templars may have played in the carving of the KRS,and their ideology, symbolized in the rune letter Scott calls the Hooked X
• The amazing connections with other previously dismissed pre-Columbian North Americanartifacts and sites
Presenter: Scott F. Wolter, a professional geologist, has been President of American Petrographic Services since 1990. He is responsible for the independent petrographic analysis testing laboratory where the stone was brought for investigation in 2000. He has been the principal petrographer in more than 5,000 investigations throughout the world, including the evaluation of fire damaged concrete at the Pentagon following the attacks of September 11, 2001. Wolter joined forces with avid Scandinavian linguist and runologist Richard Nielsen in authoring "The Kensington Rune Stone, Compelling New Evidence", published in 2005.
