Great River Energy Tour Including A Presentation: The Power of Green- Where are we LEEDing?

November Monthly Meeting - Please use this form if attending a tour

Tours: Great River Energy opened their new corporate headquarters in Maple Grove on April 22, 2008.  As a member-owned utility company "leading b - y example," Great River Energy has applied for LEED platinum certification for new construction from the U.S Green Building Council.  If achieved, the facility will be the first platinum-certified new construction project in Minnesota!  The Great River Energy headquarters is considered one of the most energy efficient office facilities in the country, consuming 50 percent less energy than state requirements and producing 15 percent renewable energy through photovoltaics and wind. The technologies used in the building also conserve 90 percent drinkable water and provide 30 percent more fresh air than a standard office building.

Presentation:
There is much energy going into becoming LEED Accredited professionals or to achieve LEED certification for a building.  This presentation will look at LEED AP's, developing integrated teams, LEED requirements, project examples, cost information and what's happening in the industry.

Presenter:

Speaker: Patrick Thibaudeau, CSI, CCS, LEED AP, with over 20 years experience, is a Vice President at HGA Architects and Engineers and is Director of Sustainable Design. His recent project involvement includes a hospital with a goal to be LEED Gold and a variety of building types and sizes across the country seeking LEED Certification, meeting the Minnesota Sustainable Building Guidelines (B3) or Green Guide for Healthcare.  Patrick currently is working with a team at HGA exploring how to achieve the Architecture 2030 carbon neutral goals.
