2009 Capitol Consulting Day

ACEC/MN members are invited to St. Paul on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to participate in the 11th annual Capitol Consulting Day.
Once again, we are offering two tracks. One for those members familiar with the legislative process and plan to meet with legislators and a second for those less familiar with the process, but are interested in learning more about how the legislature works.
EVENT SCHEDULE:
8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
TRACKS 1 & 2: ACEC/MN lobbyist Randy Morris will host a brief planning session to cover issues and coach members on how to effectively interact with legislators. Several legislators have been invited to present at the planning session. Issues to be addressed include:
- Procurement policies for use of consultants
- Transportation funding packages
- Indemnification clauses in contracts
- Potential tax on professional services
9:30-11:30 a.m.
TRACK 1: Meet with legislators to discuss issues facing the engineering community. It's easy to find your legislature and district. Find your legislative district (Meeting times need to be pre-assigned) See the attachment for more details and to register.
TRACK 2: Tour the Capitol, visit the House and Senate Chambers and sit in on a committee hearing. See the attachment for more details and to register.

* The Mn/DOT cafeteria is available to grab lunch and debrief for those of you who would like to stay after 11:30 a.m.
Presenter:
ACEC/MN Lobbyist Randy Morris and various Minnesota Legislators. ACEC/MN Executive Director Dave Oxley will also be giving a tour of the capitol to those who are interested in track 2.
