2011 Capitol Consulting Day
ACEC/MN members are invited to St. Paul on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM to participate in the 13th annual Capitol Consulting Day.
Once again, we are offering two tracks. One for those members familiar with the legislative process who plan to meet with legislators and a second for those less familiar with the process who are interested in learning more about how the legislature works.
EVENT SCHEDULE:
8:30 – 10:00 AM
ACEC/MN lobbyist Randy Morris will host a brief planning session to cover issues and coach members on how to effectively interact with legislators. Several legislators have been invited to present at the planning session. Issues to be addressed include:
- Procurement policies
- Infrastructure funding
- Indemnification clauses in contracts
- Stimulus programs for construction
- Potential sales tax on professional services
10:00 AM- 12:00 PM
TRACK 1: Meet with legislators to discuss issues facing the engineering community. Note: Meetings need to be pre-arranged by you with your legislators. Please contact ACEC/MN staff for tips and a template.
TRACK 2: Tour the Capitol, visit the House and Senate Chambers and sit in on a committee hearing.

* The Mn/DOT cafeteria is available to grab lunch and debrief for those of you who would like to stay after 11:30 AM
